There are millions of individuals across the United States encountering various adversities, including homelessness, poverty, unemployment, discrimination, abusive situations, and unstable home lives. Without adequate resources and support, they could endure severe and destructive consequences.
To tackle these issues, The Carra House, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, offers intervention and mentoring programs to at-risk teens, providing support to their families and educational services for those who require a high school diploma. Furthermore, we offer skill-building tools and confidence-building resources to help individuals get back on track and lead a fulfilling life. Our aim is to provide solutions today that guarantee a better tomorrow.
Although not everyone will have the opportunity to complete their high school education in a traditional manner, the value of attaining a diploma is universally recognized. At Carra Academy, we understand that those without diplomas require a different approach to education. Our "Do A 180" program is an accelerated 180-day course of study designed to assist individuals in obtaining their high school diploma and turning their lives around.
Our teaching philosophy at Carra Academy differs from traditional methods. We believe that education combines academics, problem-solving skills, social interactions, values, and beliefs. As everyone has their unique learning style, we aim to provide an inclusive environment where all students can learn and thrive. Those without a high school diploma face a range of challenges, including limited job opportunities, higher incarceration rates, lower wages, homelessness, domestic violence, drug abuse, and illness. At Carra Academy, we act as a beacon of hope by offering an alternative path to a high school diploma. Today, we strive to be the solution for tomorrow's problems.
